NYPD Told To Not Intervene With Motorcycle Mobs In Their "Pop Up" Rides
NY Post – They’re hell on wheels — and NYPD cops won’t touch them. The department has ordered cops not to chase after large biker groups like the one that beat a driver near the West Side Highway because of the risk that innocent bystanders or the riders will be killed, law-enforcement sources told The Post. “The people who are doing this aren’t stopping when police try to pull them over,” one source said, noting that the bikers can simply jump sidewalks and mow down pedestrians to flee cops. The department also doesn’t have the manpower to police the rogue riders, who get together for pop-up outings and often use unregistered bikes. They typically belong to motorcycle clubs that loosely organize rides up to several times a week in the summer in Manhattan. They’re loud and can be reckless, but they are not usually involved in beating people up, one source noted. The riders usually brag about their tricks by posting footage online. “You go on YouTube, you could see dozens of [these rides] all along the West Side Highway, the Major Deegan, even one time in Times Square,’’ a law-enforcement source said. Sunday’s ride was supposed to go through Times Square, but the NYPD kept it out. Cops set up checkpoints around the area, and pushed the riders uptown — where they clashed with Manhattan Internet exec Alexian Lien, who was out driving with his family. The group included riders from clubs such as Orion in Brooklyn and Firstline Soldiers in New Rochelle. Two bikers who allegedly terrorized and beat Lien during a wild chase on the West Side Highway have been arrested.
Well this story just won’t go away. Seems to have really struck a chord with the city. Which is fine by me because I have no problem defending the driver of that car to the death. Just because one member of the mob that was intentionally threatening and intimidating a man and his wife and kid was badly injured as they tried to escape doesn’t change the circumstances of the altercation. As I said yesterday, I feel bad for the wife and daughter of the guy who’s been injured. But its hard to sympathize with someone who got hit by a car after he tried to stop traffic on major parkway and threaten someone behind the wheel.
But whats absurd is that people are really taking the side of the bikers. And it appears that the vast majority of them ride motorcycles themselves. Like some sort of absurd cult or brotherhood predicated upon the idea that you both ride the same type of transportation. Like riding a motorcycle is some sort of lifestyle where they all defend the actions of each other at all costs. Do you know how fucking absurd that is? And their inevitable defense is “You just wouldn’t understand. You don’t ride.” Take a look at this dude:
I literally cannot think of anything more childish than defending a pack of 50 people trapping a small family on a Sunday drive simply because you have motorcycles in common. Thats bafflingly stupid. I support those riders and all their actions because sometimes when I drive my motorcycle other drivers aren’t considerate to me! And I love this excuse like anyone who doesn’t ride a motorcycle can’t comment on this situation because they don’t know what its like. “KFC you don’t know how hard it is to ride a motorcycle! You don’t know how dangerous it is to be going that fast on the road with cars three times bigger than you!”
Uhhh NO FUCKING KIDDING! You know why I don’t ride a motorcycle?? Because its fucking hard and its dangerous going that fast surrounded by cars three times my size! You fucking idiot. I choose not to travel around at high speeds with a fucking rocket engine between my legs because its extremely dangerous and I couldn’t handle it. I know the consequences of that. Just like I would know the fucking consequences of stopping a man dead in the middle of the highway in an ominous manner. Scare the everliving shit out of a man and his family, give him reason to believe things are about to turn dangerous and violent for the people he cares for, and theres a chance he’s gonna run me the fuck over. Spark a highly contentious, potentially dangerous, violent situation, and there can be some violent circumstances. Simple cause and effect here folks. We’re all responsible for ourselves.
The saddest part is that the guys in this mob and the idiot like that dude on twitter act like they represent the motorcycle community. You know how many old school motorcycle enthusiasts probably hate these fucking scumbags too? Guys who ride their Harley’s responsibly, not breaking all of societies rules, who would never threaten anyone in this manner? This is not about motorcycles and who rides them and who doesn’t. This is about despicable people in a mob mentality who think they can do whatever they want, whenever they way. Alexian Lien made the proactive decision that he wasn’t gonna be victim to those types of people and he did what was necessary to get out of there. Anyone with a brain, whether you’re a soccer mom in a mini van or a dude who rides a Kawasaki Ninja bike, should be able to understand that.
PS – For the record, since the video cuts off before we ever see the driver get assaulted, this is the victm Alexian Lien after being beaten and slashed:
Face down bleeding in the street. For trying to remove his family from the situation. Imagine if any of those bikers were in his shoes? Like they’d keep their calm and not react in the best interest of self preservation? For sure not.
PPS – If you’re like a psychopathic motorcycle rider and you’re thinking about hunting me down and slashing my face to death, I’m j/k. This is all a joke.
