Suspended MLS Player Watches Game In The Supporters Section, Goes Tarps Off For The Boys
Chris Wondolowski received the first red card in his 15-year MLS career on Saturday in Atlanta, which means he had to sit out last night’s game against the Philadelphia Union. Now I gotta be honest here, I’m not entirely sure what the standard protocol is for a suspended player in soccer. I don’t know if they typically watch the game from the press box or if they just stay home or what. But I have to imagine that most players aren’t showing up to the game to sit in the supporters section. But considering this was the first opportunity that Chris Wondolowski had to watch the team as a fan, he took full advantage of it and decided to turn all the way up with the Ultras.
And when San Jose scored the first goal of the game? It was time to go Tarps Off For The Boys.
Beer flowing everywhere. Poppin off the top. You have to think that there was at least a little piece of Chris Wondolowski’s brain that was thinking to himself that he needs to get suspended more often because he had himself a night.
Unfortunately for him, the party was ended early because the Union are on their run to a championship and a 2-1 win in San Jose was just another stop on the journey. But for all intents and purposes, it seemed like a legendary first half for Chris Wondolowski.
