Justin Gaethje Slamming This Poor Soul Every Which Way Imaginable In His First Pro Fight Is So Justin Gaethje It Hurts
So this video of what is supposedly Justin Gaethje’s first pro fight ever is on the frontpage of r/MMA today, and I gotta be honest with ya – I’ve seen a lot of mixed martial arts in my day, but this still stopped me in my tracks.
I actually had the opportunity to speak with Justin Gaethje this week alongside Matt Serra on UFC Unfiltered, and we talked to him a toooon about his wrestling in particular, which he rarely showcases in his war-style fights. Gaethje spoke so intelligently about the differences between folkstyle wrestling and freestyle wrestling, his matches with United States Olympian Jordan Burroughs, and how he feels his grappling ability could neutralize Khabib Nurmagomedov’s, yet…this is exactly how I imagine him wrestling should he ever do it in the octagon. Like a fuckin savage. Picks ya up, drops ya on your head. Rinse and repeat.
How about the Fight IQ on his opponent here, huh? Obviously things may have been a bit hazey after the first slam, but attempting to slap on the most slammable triangle I’ve ever seen?! Not smart. Just flat-out not smart.
