Get Your Nostalgia Fix With This Awesome AND1 Mixtape Throwback

Nothing and I mean nothing gives me more nostalgia than some quality And1 mixtape footage. For any basketball fan around my age where your formative years were around the early 2000, this may have been the most important thing in your life. We don’t really think of streetball the same way in 2019, but in the 2000? It was gigantic. AND1 mixtapes were a huge part of basketball culture and you mention any of these guys to a basketball fan that’s at least like 29 and you’ll see them light up. Guys like A.O, Skip 2 My Lou, Helicopter, The Professor, Main Event, Hotsauce, 50, Werm, Skip To My Lou were so much fun to watch and that clip above is a great example why. The fact that it had it’s own show on ESPN back in the day tells you how huge this was

The baggy clothes, the elite level crossovers, the whole thing has me down a big time rabbit hole right now. This was also around the time we got what is perhaps my favorite basketball commercial of all time

Streetball culture was everywhere and we even saw some guys break through and make the NBA like Skip 2 My Lou

You’re lying to yourself if you were growing up around this time and you didn’t practice some of these moves. Sure they looked nothing like the real thing but that wasn’t the point. I don’t think it’s crazy to say And1 Mixtapes had more of an impact during that time than what we actually saw in the NBA. It’s a shame this doesn’t really exist anymore, and in a day in age where we are rebooting everything, how on earth has nobody rebooted the AND1 Mixtape Tour? Based on my quick research it’s been nearly 10 years and frankly that is unacceptable.
