NYCFC Recap - The Heat SUCKS

Maxi Moralez made an immediate impact in his first game back after a spell, but the team came up short tying 1-1 with FC Dallas.

This was awesome. Want to know what’s better than scoring early in the first half of the game? Scoring in THIRTY-NINE SECONDS! A club record! Maxi was all over the place this game, his first back after dealing with an injury for a few weeks, including salvaging that pass and helping the asist for Taty. After that, the game soured for City. Maybe scoring that early made them complacent, maybe losing Tinnerholm to injury early in the first half hurt their ability to generate momentum on the right wing. Tough to say! They had a few more chances, namely through Mitriță, but everything fizzled out. It didn’t help that there was constant hydration breaks  (obv important, its boiling in Dallas) that took away a lot of offensive momentum. The goal they gave up was on both Sean Johnson and Ring. Johnson handed off a save to Ring, not seeing a SPRINTING Paxton Pomykal coming down the center of the 18. Ring didn’t have enough time to clear it, and Ondrasek volleyed it straight into the net. Fucking sucks, man. Boneheaded mistake that makes the game on wednesday all the more important.

Hopefully Tinnerholm will be good to play on Wednesday, which will also see the return of Herber from injury. A loss to Atlanta leaves them with only a 1 point lead on the east which they need. Atlanta will be without Josef Martinez, the second leading goal scorer in the league,  due to a scary looking knee injury he sustained.
