Public Service Announcement: Atlanta Is Further West Than Detroit

I don’t know how well known this is. I don’t know why I find it so fascinating. I just know I can’t get it off my mind. Ever since I conquered the skies earlier this year, Mickstape has been on the road much more frequently. Which has been great. I’ve been able to experience parts of the world I thought I’d never visit, met NBA players I grew up idolizing, and spent loads of time with my pal Trill Withers. Which is where this all stems from. As all of you know, Tyler lives in Atlanta. So when we fly places, we’re never on the same bird. Like how the president and vice have to take different flights in case shit goes down. Same situation here more or less.

This is how I learned about this simply confounding fact. Because every time we fly, I ask him what time he’s leaving, when’s he’s arriving, and to have safe travels. Every single time, no matter where we’re going, it takes him 2 hours. Dallas? 2 hours. LA? 2 hours. San Francisco? 2 hours. New York? Two hours. Which led me to ask him: hey pal, what the fuck? Are you the only person in the world who knows how to fly correctly? Are you even taking a plane, do you just know how to fly like a falcon of some sort? What the fuck.

This is when he informed me that Atlanta, Georgia – very much a state located on the East coast – is geographically in a more western location than DETROIT, MICHIGAN. For those unfamiliar with Detroit or Michigan, it’s not near Delaware. It’s not slightly above Philly. It’s in the fucking middle of the country. The East coast to the right of it, the West coast to the left, Justin Trudeau dressed like Sinbad above, and everyone else underneath it. How is it possible that ANY CENTIMETER OF GEORGIA is located anywhere west of Detroit? Atlanta is quietly a suburb of Texas and it bothers me in the deep, dark crevices of my soul. I’ve lived my entire life believing Atlanta to be right on top of Florida, with the rest of Georgia, hanging out with the rest of the East coast just taking it easy. Well I was wrong. Dead wrong. All this time Atlanta has been just outside of Tuscon, Arizona. What a world.
