Tony Bennett Turned Down A Raise After UVa Won The Title Because He Has 'More Money Than He Needs' .. I'm Sorry, WHAT?!?

I’ve talked about this Virginia team quite a bit, mostly because they won us (those who followed me last year) some money as the preseason pick to win it all plus when the tournament started. The redemption story after losing to a No. 16 seed, yada, yada, yada.

The real thing here is the fact that Tony Bennett turned down a raise because he has more money than he needs. What a ridiculously dumb statement plus a flex all at once. It’s the real life Zo gif.

In the world of coaching you have no idea how much time you have left. You have no idea how much money you’ll end up making. But at the same time Bennett has been paid for years now and he comes from a family where his dad was a major coach. So, yeah, I get that. Plus it’s not like he’s making small change by not accepting the raise.

On the other hand. Can you imagine having more money? You can do whatever you want. You have that security. Maybe it’s because I can’t imagine having the type of money Bennett has, but give me more of that every day of the week and let me do good with it after that.

All I know is Virginia better do whatever he wants since he’s letting them pay other coaches instead of him. Hell, those coaches better be offering to do whatever he wants for that too.

More importantly, maybe he can apologize to my boss finally:
