I brought in my own desk.

Yesterday in the office was a hectic one for the recent hires. Within a day we became victims of heavy scrutiny. Some people confronted us about it, frequently questioning why we were taking up their precious lounge area. The answer is simple.

We. had. no. choice.

As soon as we got here it was just “oh you guys can use the couch area until we get you desks”. I’m not one to argue but I did question if our seating arrangement was a priority. It obviously wasn’t priority or a big deal… until it was made a big deal by other employees who simply wanted their beloved couches back.

Not to name names, but as soon as Brandon Walker spoke about it to someone who is higher up in the Barstool food chain, it was moved up the priority list. It was such a priority that we got called onto the Rundown in order to address the whole ordeal in front of pretty much the whole office. I can hardly imagine what an inconvenience we are to their lounging conveniences.

It got me thinking “what has to be done here, surely something has to be done”. Whilst thinking about how I can make everyone’s life easier and then I overheard someone mention bringing in a desk…

What an idea. Some may call it genius, I’m so glad my brain works like that. Such a brilliant idea in a time of desperation.  As they say, big time players make big time plays.

Only being on a month trial, it couldn’t hurt to show a little initiative. So I sent a few texts to people I know in NYC asking for a foldable table, they responded hastily (s/o Uncle Peter)- and badda bing, badda boom I’ve got myself a sweet desk.

It’s already getting rave reviews:

“Sweet desk dude” -$20 Chef

“I like this” -Brandon Walker

“That’s a power move” -Spider

“He’s the leader in the clubhouse” -Big Cat to the other recent hires

"Nice desk" -Nate

In the coming days I will probably bring in some stuff to make it a little more like home. Maybe some pictures, bobblehead, and other stereotypical desk knick knacks. I do feel as though I’ve left my recent hire friends out to dry. Every interaction has usually been someone complimenting my desk followed by a rude comment directed towards the other new hires’ lack of desk.

I do have to admit, it is nice to have a desk. It’s kinda looks like a table straight out of the WWE. I am a little concerned that someone taking a five star frog splash through the table followed by the office breaking out in holy shit chants

For now, it's good enough to call home.
