The Whipsnakes Are Heading To Philly To Play For The First Ever PLL Championship, And Everything Else You Might Have Missed From Round 1 Of The PLL Playoffs
The first round of the PLL playoffs are in the books. If you clicked on this blog, I have to imagine you’re a lacrosse fan and you already know about who the PLL playoffs work. But on the off chance you’ve randomly found yourself here, let me explain it to you real quick. Instead of your typical 1v4 and 2v3 quarterfinal matchups, the PLL decided to go with 3v4 and 1v2. The winner of 1v2 advances straight to the championship, and the loser of that game goes on to play the winner of the 3v4 game. So with that being the case, the Chaos and Whipsnakes played this weekend with a trip to the ship on the line. And having the honor of locking up that ticket to Philly on the 21st?

Air Rambo and the boys put an absolute beatdown on the Chaos 15-7. Now here’s the thing–I’m a little convinced that once the Whipsnakes built up a little lead that the Chaos decided to just pack it in considering they would still be playing in the semifinal this weekend in New York. I’m not a big conspiracy guy but I’m also not not a big conspiracy guy. And this one just makes plenty of sense. I mean would you rather win the quarterfinal game and have to take a week off before playing for the championship? Or would you rather lose that quarterfinal game, then play the next week in the semifinal hoping that you win that game and don’t have any rust to shake off the following week in the championship? It just seems as if some tomfoolery could be afoot once the game started to get away from them. That’s my one complaint about this playoff format is that it almost makes more sense to lose that 1v2 game, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the semifinal to make that final decision. Because my money right now would be on the Redwoods to keep it rolling after what they were able to do against the Archers on Friday night.
Redwoods are heading into Red Bull Arena looking extra spicy, and the Chaos are coming in with their tails tucked between their legs. Or is that just what they want us to think? It hard to say.
