Why Is Cincinnati Treating Their Game Tomorrow Against Ohio State Like It's The Super Bowl?

So tomorrow at noon, The Ohio State will kick off Week 2 of their season, and like they are in most games, the Buckeyes are heavily favored. I mean, it's only Week 2. Even in our "down years", we still start off 7-0 before losing to someone like Purdue. Then we finish off 12-1 and Rose Bowl champions, and everyone calls it a rough year.

Anyways, there should be zero concern heading into tomorrow's game. It's a non-conference game against a non-Power 5 team, we're 16 point favorites, and we're at home. The focus tomorrow should be on pregame tailgating and playing the seniors before getting into Big 10 play. But that just doesn't seem to be the case. And as much as I hate to admit it, I'm almost a little bit nervous about Cincinnati coming to town.

No, it's not because of Cincinnati's talent level. Let me be clear: it does NOT have ANYTHING to do with Cincinnati being a good football team. Every single one of the players on their roster would've decommitted from UC the night before signing day if Urban Meyer called them and said he might think about maybe offering them. There is not one player on that team that scares me. If they did, they would be Buckeyes. Or at least at like Illinois or something.

And my nerves have absolutely nothing to do with Luke Fickell returning either. I know Luke Fickell is thought of as a great Buckeye that did a tough job, but let's not forget that he did it terribly. The Buckeyes sucked. 6-7. Lost to Michigan. Lost in the Bowl Game. I mean, this dude started Joe Bauserman over Braxton Miller for the first three games of the year. I am not concerned at all about the coaching prowess of Luke Fickell.

But I am concerned with one thing: the Cincinnati Bearcats are treating this week like it's the biggest game in program history. It's their Super Bowl. I've never seen anything like it. Did they really get a countdown for a non-conference, non-rivalry game?

……this isn't a rivalry game? One school is full of the Haves, and one school is full of the Have Nots. I'm so confused as to what Luke Fickell meant by this quote:

If you say "next week" on Tuesday, do you mean the game Saturday or the following Saturday? Is he talking about Ohio State or Miami of Ohio? I really hope he's not talking about us. Why is this such a big game?

I mean, is this video real????

Look folks, this is just another game for Ohio State. Are we even on national television? This might be less than a normal game. This isn't a conference championship. This isn't a playoff game. This isn't the Rose Bowl. This isn't even a rivalry game.

I just hope the Buckeyes come out and can match the intensity level of Cincinnati. They have 72 players from the state of Ohio on their roster, and every single one of them is going to be playing with a chip on their shoulder. It's tough to beat a team playing in their Super Bowl when you're playing like it's a preseason game. But if we can get fired up for this exhibition, Buckeyes by 100. No one at Cincinnati would be there if they could be at Ohio State. Students included.
