Under No Circumstances Will Doc Rivers Stop Tampering

I know what you’re thinking, this is just an Instagram like. Doesn’t mean anything. To that I say have you been in a coma? The best way to uncover NBA news is to look at social media, there are hints and clues everywhere you look. Seeing as how we were all shocked when we learned that the Warriors were trading Iguodala to the Grizzlies, we also knew there was little chance he stays on the Grizzlies at this point in his career. There are a long list of contending teams that would love to have a player like Iguodala in their rotation and it’s only a matter of time before something gets worked out.

Enter Doc Rivers and the Clippers. Remember, this is a man who we know gives two shits about tampering. His owner will write whatever check he has to as long as it works. We know this to be true because of what Doc did on television leading up to free agency

That right there earned him a 50k fine. Pocket change for Steve Ballmer and guess who landed Kawhi Leonard? There’s no doubt in my mind that the Clippers have a tampering budget that Doc can work within. Which brings us to that Instagram like. Andre Iguodala is most definitely still under contract with another team. I know the tampering rules are hazy and the NBA tries to act like they actually care, but I feel like the head coach of a team that is rumored to be in on Iggy shouldn’t be out here liking photoshops of that player in a Clippers jersey. Again, we all know tampering exists and that’s just life in today’s NBA, but if this is Doc’s way of letting us know something is being worked out, well the NBA title favorite just added a real legit piece.

With Paul George probably missing a handful of weeks to start the season due to his shoulder surgery, adding a player like Iggy would absolutely help stop the bleeding. Imagine a defense with Beverley/Kawhi/Iggy/Harrell/Zubac? You could certainly do a lot worse. Especially when you’re talking about the Western Conference and all the elite wing talent you have to deal with. Then once George is back you can have Iggy play small ball four and Harrell at the five if you want. That’s terrifying.

It wouldn’t shock me if in the next coming days we get the Shams/Woj bomb about this addition. When has social media and the internet ever let us down before when it comes to breaking NBA news? Exactly.
