Bear Grylls Almost Died From An Allergic Reaction To A Bee Sting Before Medics Were Able To Save Him

bear

Yahoo- Bear Grylls was treated by medics during the filming of his latest survival series after he suffered from a “life-threatening” allergic reaction to a bee sting. The former military man was in the midst of recording his upcoming show Treasure Island on a remote location in the Pacific when he went into anaphylactic shock and professionals were forced to intervene.

Brain surgeon Mano Shanmug-anathan – who is taking part in the series – recalled the incident, noting that Grylls tried his very best to continue as normal despite his body reacting badly to the injury.

I think we’ve all known that Bear Grylls is somewhere between Madman and Full-Blown Psychopath on the Crazy Scale for a while now. So reading that he almost died while filming a show isn’t too crazy. However, finding out the almost-murder weapon was a bee’s stinger instead of the jaws of a bear or the poison of a berry that looked jussssst like non-poisonous berries is Upset City. And I’m not gonna lie, it makes me feel kinda good about myself.

I couldn’t last one day or even one hour in some of the conditions that sick son of a bitch willingly puts himself in. I’d be Michael Scott in Survivorman doing any of the shit Bear does with the feeling I’m melting due to the slightest bit of humidity not to mention separation anxiety from the nearest WiFi spot. But I can take a bee sting like a fucking champ. Don’t get me wrong. If a bee stings me, it’ll hurt and I’ll complain about it for days on end. But my life is in no more danger than it usually is after a bee sting, which admittedly isn’t saying much due to my massive size. But the point remains, my human is tougher than big bad Bear Grylls’ human when it comes to bee stings. More courageous? Definitely not, considering that nutjob once took a honeycomb from a bunch of angry bees which caused him to turn into a botox job gone wrong during his old show more than a decade ago.

But I’m definitely better against a bee sting.

Also, it has to be said that it would have been complete bullshit if we lost Bear Grylls to a bee sting after losing the legendary Steve Irwin to a stingray attack. I’d tell Bear to be more careful out there, but people like him and YP are from another planet when it comes to shit like this in the name of content. Which then makes me worry about my friend YP. I guess that’s the trade off for him living his dreams making content in the outdoors while I live my dreams making content in central air with mesh shorts on.

P.S. It’s a hell of a week for Pres’ Twitter bio. First hitting a milli and then coming out as more #BeeStingTough than Bear Grylls
