STIPE MIOCIC KNOCKS OUT DANIEL CORMIER IN PHENOMENAL COMEBACK, NEW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP

HOOOOLLLLLLLYYYYYYY SHHHHIIIITTTTTT!

I’ll be the first to admit it – I didn’t see that coming. Like…at all. I expected Cormier/Miocic II to go very similarly to the first. Don’t get me wrong, Stipe is a tremendous fighter, but I just bought into what Daniel Cormier has famously said about himself in comparison to other fighters: there’s levels to this game, and he is simply levels above the rest (except Jon Jones). For three straight rounds, we got something that went very similarly to that first fight…Cormier pieced Stipe up on the feet, landed one of his massive, flipping takedowns, even mixed in a few dreaded eye pokes! All of a sudden, though, in the fourth, Stipe Miocic came out of his corner like a bat outta hell and absolutely fucking demolished the baddest man on the planet systematically with piercing body shot after piercing body shot to Cormier’s left side, and then the flurry of shots that eventually put him down…potentially for good.

Cormier didn’t sound dead-set on anything post-fight, but it sure as hell sounded as if retirement is very much on the table for him after suffering another knockout loss. Selfishly, I’d like Dana White and the UFC to unload a dumptruck full of money onto his driveway for one more Miocic fight, because both bouts were amazing, and I’d love to see one more to round out what would be the greatest heavyweight trilogy in mixed martial arts history. I’ll wait to share my “If this is it for Cormier…” thoughts until we find out more on his whole situation, though, because I don’t wanna write a sappy ass retirement post only for him to be on UFC 245 in December.

Personally, I thought UFC 241 couldn’t have delivered any more. Awesome fighting all night tonight, and a lot of interesting avenues we could go from here. Amazing time to be a fan.

Also, how about this doofus Rovell acting like the active duty fireman who also happens to be the greatest UFC Heavyweight of all time isn’t marketable? Yikes.

Oh, and one more thing…

I’m not sayin, but I am sayin.
