Lourwire- It would appear that a long-awaited musical collaboration putting actor, musician and comedian Jack Black together with former White Stripes leader, current Raconteur and solo artist Jack White is finally coming to pass. According to Black, Tenacious D — his rock duo with Kyle Gass — recently recorded a tune with White in Nashville.

That’s what the musical funnyman revealed onstage during a Tenacious D concert Sunday night (August 4) in Music City, according to The Tennessean. Confirming a culmination of the fan-anticipated team-up, humorously referred to as “Jack Grey” unofficially by some listeners, the Jumanji and Kung Fu Panda star indicated the D made a pitstop at the rocker’s nearby home for a quick recording session.

“Jack White,” Black announced to the audience at one point during the band’s performance at Ascend Amphitheater. “We went over to his house today and recorded a brand new song.”

The result will be released via White’s label, Third Man Records, Black added. Third Man is known for arranging one-off studio sessions and releasing limited vinyl singles with a wide array of artists.

At long last…Jack Grey is on the way.

I don’t know how into Tenacious D and Jack Black’s musical career our readers are, but if you’ve paid any attention to it over the past couple decades, there’s a decent chance you heard the legend of Jack Grey. Simply put, Jack Grey is what’d happen if Jack Black and Jack White made music together – and it appears that has already been done. Somewhere, a file exists with those two legends rockin’ side-by-side. Something that’s been coveted since I was born! Some would call it the most ambitious crossover event in history!

There’s so many questions as to what it could be, now, though! Is it a Tenacious D style song or a Jack White style song? Both? Is Kyle Gass on the track? Is Tenacious D drummer Dave Grohl on the track? When’s it gonna get released? Could this just be the first single from ‘THE GREY ALBUM’? What time signature is it in? If Jack White from Duke were also on the track, would it be Jack Light Grey? Who knows.

I’m just stoked to hear what they whipped up, and honestly, realizing I’m long overdue for a ‘Pick of Destiny’ rewatch. You probably are too.
