Snickers Is Offering 1 Million Free Candy Bars To America If The Government Agrees To Change The Date of Halloween

So about 10 days ago I wrote this blog about how a petition was started to change the date of Halloween from always being on October 31st to always falling on the last Saturday in October each year, regardless of date. It makes 100% sense, and I'm completely on board with it.

Halloween falls on a Thursday this year. That means that parents will be rushing home from work early to get their kids costumes ready to head out by about 6, get back by about 8, and then they need to either eat a bunch of candy and stay up all night, or they need to go to bed and get a good night's sleep for school tomorrow. By making Halloween on the last Saturday of October each year, you don't have this problem at all. Kids can have fun AND be great students.

Plus, for non-kid having people, everyone knows that a holiday falling on the weekend is 100x better than when it falls in the middle of the week. St. Patty's Day and the 4th of July are always a great time, but they are way better when you get the next day off work.

So anyways, yeah, I'm in on the cause, but I figured it was just another silly petition getting internet support that would never really come to anything…..until now. One of the big dawgs of the candy industry, Snickers, has gone all-in with their support of the cause by offering 1 million free candy bars for America if the government will make the change.

Now you have my attention. Snickers throwing its big dick around in the candy world is going to move the needle. The internet, who just 10 days ago was so supportive of this cause, is going to love this! Right? Wrong. The internet cannot like anything. Now that Snickers is involved, this has gone from a good idea to corporate greed, a HUGE no-no for the internet. Cue the protests:

Also - now's a great time for Angela to chime in with the horrific cocoa harvesting practices being employed across the world.

Now I'm in a pickle. For those of you that have already flip flopped, here's the new petition to counteract the petition:
