Colby Covington DOMINATES Robbie Lawler In Front Of The Trump Family

This evening in Newark, New Jersey, Colby Covington completely and utterly grapplefucked Former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler for five straight rounds. As a longtime Lawler fan and bitter Colby hater, it was pretty tough to watch. Stepping out of my biases, though, and watching it objectively…it was one of the most flawless, beautiful performances you’ll ever see in the octagon. Colby’s pace was just one another level and he out-did Lawler in every aspect of the fight. He threw over 500 strikes, threw over 20 takedowns…it was actually absurd. Every time I checked Twitter and looked back up, Covington was on Robbie’s back with his arms wrapped around his neck. He never quite could secure a choke, though.

Still got a win in front of the Trumps, which he needed. Woulda been super embarrassing to lose in front of them. And Donald Trump Jr did these “FIVE TO ZERO” hand signals at Colby afterwards while cheering him on which were hilarious.

Lawler, on the other hand, put on a sorta bizarre performance, to be honest. I’m not sure if he was sick, or there was something wrong with his hands/arms, or whether or not he was just terrified of Colby’s shots, but he didn’t throw. Just straight up rope-a-dope’d but only the first part. He roped em. He was a human punching bag for five straight rounds. Might’ve thrown 3 or 4 strikes with bad intentions, and other than that, nada. It was one of the most confusing/frustrating things I’ve ever seen. He REFUSED to trade shots. I don’t even quite know why he showed up. He coulda went full-on Happy Gilmore at the batting cages for a similar experience…

After the fight, you just knew Colby would say something problematic, and he delivered in a way only he could…

Out of left field – a reference to Matt Hughes getting hit by a train, leaving him with permanent brain damage! Didn’t expect that one!

Congrats to Covington on the win. That Usman fight just got a hell of a lot more intriguing. Two savages in that cage. Oh yeah, and Trump called him after the fight.
