What The Fuck Happened Last Night?

CHICAGOFor six innings Wednesday night at U.S. Cellular Field, the Yankees looked like the Yankees of recent years past. CC Sabathia harkened back to last season’s version of himself, tossing six dominant frames in which he allowed just one run on two hits. Alfonso Soriano reminded Yankees fans of what it was like in the Bronx a decade ago, hitting a two-run homer to give New York an early lead. Then reality reared its ugly head and it all collapsed, leading to a 6-5, 12-inning loss to cap a sweep at the hands of the last-place White Sox and a 2-6 road trip.

I am literally dumbfounded by what happened last night. I blocked 2008 out of my memory and have drank too much to remember anything before 1995 so I really don’t understand what is going on with this team. Mo blowing saves?  Then other guys who I don’t know blowing an additional save? Dropping 3 straight to a team that had previously lost ten in a row? Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit.

Getting swept in a 3 game series by the worst team in baseball is not a good look and we all know that. Losing in that fashion is even worse. For any championship team, they find a way to win. Sometimes it is by grit and determination and sometimes it is by a little luck, and we are getting neither. Instead we are taking any opportunity to lose a game and based on the lame duck hits Andy was giving up on Monday, we have no fucking luck at all. I haven’t given up yet because there is always one team 7 games out in August that makes a playoff run, but I’m getting fucking close.
