'1917' Looks Like The World War 1 Movie I've Been Waiting For

I’ve been excited for this movie for quite a bit now, and this trailer didn’t disappoint at all. It looks to combine director Sam Mendes touch with war dramas (he previously directed ‘Jarhead’) the skill of the GOAT cinematographer, Roger Deakins. (‘No Country for Old Men’, ‘Blade Runner 2049′, ‘Fargo’, ‘Skyfall’, ‘The Big Lebowski’). I mentioned it in the blog linked above, I think WW1 is criminally underrepresented in film. There is maybe one WW1 movie for every 25 WW2 movies, which is insane considering the scale of the conflict. In addition to having 2 greats behind the camera, the cast is also phenomenal:

WW1-GraphicIt really doesn’t get much better than that. If you’re interested in WW1 as well, I highly recommend watching ‘They Shall Not Grow Old':
