Since when does Jody Highroller play for the Toronto Maple Leafs? William Nylander has reached a new level of cocky, posting a picture of him with cornrows just sucking down some prosciutto to his Instagram late last week.
I kind of feel like William Nylander is on a giant fuck you tour. The 23-year-old got a ton of shit from fans last summer and during the season for his contract situation with the Leafs. A situation that lead to him holding out and getting a fat 6-year, $45m contract. I mean usually you go on a fuck you tour after you win something, but I guess you could say he won a shit ton of money?
Nylander went on to have a very underwhelming season, especially for someone you are paying an $6.9m per season. In 54 regular season games, the son of former NHLer Michael Nylander only had 27 points (7g, 20a). Nylander wasn’t great in the playoffs either, the Leafs were bounced in the 1st round but in 7 games, Nylander only had 3 points (1g, 2a).
Nylander also gets a majority of his money for the year on July 1st. Buddy woke up one morning with a nice $8m deposit in his bank account from the Leafs and said “fuck it, I’m going to get corn rows and eat some prosciutto.” Do I blame the guy? Absolutely fucking not. I’d be doing the most ignorant shit as a 23-year-old with that much money. But holy shit this kid better put up some numbers next season or the Leafs fans will crucify him.
