Quitting Your Dayjob to Read the News for Barstool, What Could Go Wrong?

Will_Studio

After almost 10 years as a government contractor (small money state contracting, not a fancy defense contractor), I’ve quit my day job to focus full-time on the Hard Factor News podcast, and bringing better election coverage to Barstool leading up to Super Tuesday in 2020.

Nine years and ten months straight of writing reports, opening offices, signing timesheets, and building and installing systems to process government paperwork got me to a very comfortable salary and a nice kushy consulting gig, so naturally, it’s time to abandon all that financial security and take a chance focusing on reading the news for a website that started as a sports gambling newspaper. Anyway, that’s the questionable choice I’m making, and hopefully it will help us bring you a few more laughs on the road to 2020.

Realistically… the shot to talk shit about news and politics for Barstool is the most amazing opportunity I’ve ever gotten in my life, and I’m very grateful for the chance that Erika and Dave have given us. Also, I feel like I’m finally qualified to talk American politics after migrating from the DC area originally (with stops at LSU and Austin, TX on the way) to the Mecca of American freedom: Nevada. The state that hasn’t forgotten the 10th amendment.

That being said, I’m not making this jump because we’ve gotten some kind of change in our deal, I’m doing it because I love doing the show for Barstool, and we need more of our personal focus and energy on the show to make it as informative and funny as it possibly can be. We’re hoping to bring you MUCH more content in year 2 of Hard Factor - so come along for the ride and give us a follow @HardFactorNews for all the headline news and Florida man stories your heart desires.

Be sure to tune in tonight to the Hard Factor live stream for the Democratic debates. We’ll be breaking down all of the action with a pre-show, discussions during commercial breaks, and a wrap-up afterward. We’ve got PFT Commenter live in Detroit for the pre-show and Hassan Piker from the Young Turks on the Wednesday after-show.

For the best odds on the debates and other political markets, try predictit.org/promo/hardfactor20 to get $20 matched on your first deposit. It’s like the stock market of political outcomes and is very fun to bet on, with a few good props going for the debates this week.
