Dwight Gooden Got Arrested For Allegedly Driving The Wrong Way Down A One-Way Street While Under The Influence And Pissed Himself

NY Post- Addled former Mets ace Dwight Gooden was arrested Monday night for driving under the influence after heading the wrong way down a one-way street in Newark, NJ

The legendary ex-pitcher known as “Doc” — who has been in and out of rehab for years for drug and alcohol addiction — was a mess when he was picked up on Vincent Street near Ferry Street in the Ironbound section around 11:10 p.m., sources said.

So it looks like we have officially reached the point of Dwight Gooden’s life where he gets arrested a bunch of times in a short period to the point where you aren’t sure what happened when. To clarify, Gooden was arrested last month for possession of cocaine in New Jersey. Everyone shook their heads, hoped the best for Doc, and went about their day.

But now it looks like Doc has upped his degenerate game to another level by getting arrested a month later and not only putting his life on the line but innocent people on the road at risk as well by (allegedly) driving like a 4-year-old playing Mario Kart for the first time and (allegedly) pissing himself like a 2-year-old.

“He pissed himself. He was clearly buzzed, really kind of f–ked up,” said an Essex County law-enforcement source.

I’m really not even trying to clown Doc either. He is a big part why I became a Mets fan in the 80s. Doc, Darryl, Mookie, and David Cone were my guys back in the day and locked me into rooting for the goddamn Mets. But at some point, enough is enough. That point is usually happens when you soil yourself, put other peoples’ lives are at risk, or hit rock bottom. And it looks like Doc may have hit the trifecta.

The former Mets and Yankees pitcher, who has dealt publicly with drug and alcohol abuse problems for more than three decades, wrote in a text message Tuesday that this is the worst battle he’s ever faced with drugs. “I just like to thank everyone for their support in this horrible struggle,” Gooden wrote. “My apologies to everyone I let down or disappointed. I deserve everything that’s being written/talked about me . . .
“This is the worst I’ve ever been through all my struggles. But I am going to keep fighting no matter how embarrassing, shameful or selfish I am feeling.”

You know shit is fucked up when Dwight Gooden says that he’s struggling worse than he ever has. That’s like saying Mike Trout is hitting the ball better than he ever has.

As always, hopefully the next time we see Doc in the news, it’s because he is doing great and not dead or in jail. But honestly at this rate, I’m not sure what it’s going to be.
