The Raiders Trade Khalil Mack To The Bears Instead Of The Packers Because They Thought They'd Get A Higher Draft Pick

(source)–Murphy told 105.7 The Fan that the Packers made a big offer to the Raiders for Mack, but the Raiders thought the Bears would have a worse team.

“Well the whole Khalil Mack thing. It’s not that we didn’t try,” Murphy said. “We were aggressive. We wanted to sign him. I think, ironically, the Raiders took the Bears offer because they thought they would be a better draft pick.”

Thinking the Packers were better than the Bears WITH Khalil Mack

I love stories like this. Just reminds me of how incredible last season was. Nobody was taking the Bears seriously. Not even the Oakland Raiders. They looked at a team with Aaron Rodgers and just assumed that they were better than the Bears. They didn’t factor in

That team was ready to cook even before they got the best defensive player in the NFL. Mack put the Bears in the upper echelon of the league. And they’re just scratching the surface. You gotta think Trubisky has more to give, Roquan Smith in year 2 has more to give, and Nagy has more wrinkles. The NFL is unpredictable, but it’s impossible to be pessimistic about the Bears heading into 2019. The team is stacked. I don’t think the Bears will miss that 24th overall pick they gave to the Raiders(Josh Jacobs) on their way back to the playoffs.

PS: Also…not to beat a dead horse, but that Eddie Jackson gif stings a bit. If Jackson is healthy the Bears beat the Eagles and who knows how last season ends.
