Pocket Kings Was The Winning Main Event Hand For The First Time Ever

And just like that, the World Series of Poker is over. 90 events (90!!!!) over the course of over a month and a half, ending with Germany’s Hossein Ensan taking down the most prestigious prize, $10 million and the bracelet.

And thus ends my favorite time of the year, with pocket kings being the final hand of the Main for the first time ever. I’m not sad though. No sad it’s over, smiling because it happened. No but seriously, it’s so much fun to follow year after year, to watch the ridiculous hands go down, to watch friends and heroes win and lose tons of money, and to even get to play it myself. It’s quite a thrill and something I don’t take for granted.

So congrats to Hossein on his huge win. Was he my first choice? Hardly. I like when it’s a Chris Moneymaker-type- someone that’ll be a great poker ambassador and spread the game in the United States. Or an Ivey type of guy who is just a legend. Ensan had a great run, and dominating final table though, so nothing but respect for him. Played his dick off in a huge field and barely had any hiccups once the final table started, even with the rails going so out of control.

So congrats to him and can’t wait to do this all over again next May.

But for now, check out the new podcast with absolute legend, GOAT, and one of the best to ever do it, Fedor Holz.
