CHICAGO (WLS) — The No. 2 ranked Oregon Ducks will take on No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes Monday night in the very first College Football National Championship at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.  Here in Chicago, fans of both teams are holding viewing parties at neighboring bars in Lincoln Park. Ohio State fans are gathering at McGee’s, while Oregon fans will be watching next door at Homeslice.

Homeslice in Lincoln Park is now the home to Chicago-based Oregon Duck fans. It’s a natural fit given the log decor, and its owners are from the Beaver State.  “Usually we’re a little more of a mellow restaurant, but when Ducks get in here and they’re playing strong, the place goes nuts,” said Josh Lachelli, Homeslice owner.  Divided by the “L” tracks and a few feet, Homeslice’s next-door neighbor, McGee’s, is an Ohio State bar. Buckeye fans began showing up hours before kickoff just to get a spot.

“We hope to get everybody in, in the course of the night. We have a lot of TVs and a lot of space, we just hope the employees keep up,” said Tom Piazza, McGee’s owner.  McGee’s bartender Breena Behen is an Ohio State alumna.  “There’s no place I would rather be than working and seeing everyone I can see and really enjoying the game. It’s really exciting,” Behen said.  And if you can’t get into McGee’s or Homeslice, Sedgwicks is an option for college football fans and “Bachelor” viewers – one room is the game, and the other is reserved Monday for ladies night.  “We have two separate sound systems and one will have the game, and one will have ‘The Bachelor.’ And everybody will be happy,” said Mario Davila, general manager at Sedgwick’s.

I wrote this blog for 1 reason and 1 reason only. Vertical videos. If Ohio State loses this game there will 100% be words exchanged after the game. Just has to happen. I don’t even know if there are any Oregon Alums in Chicago or if any will go to what is basically a restaurant for a Championship game but I know McGees, I know how rowdy they get on gameday and if anything happens please please please, flip that iPhone sideways and send it to chicagotips@barstoolsports.com. Also if you want to yell Barstool in the background like black people yell World Star I’m cool with that too.

PS

How about Sedgwicks putting the Bachelor on volume? Outrageous move.
