Futbol: Philadelphia Will Host The 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup Championship Game

linc-soccer

Philly.comOn a day when Philadelphia is at the center of the American soccer world, news breaks that our city will be back in a big-time spotlight this summer. I’ve had it confirmed to me that Lincoln Financial Field has been selected as the host venue for the championship game of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the signature tournament for North and Central American national teams. Philadelphia beat out Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium, Atlanta’s Georgia Dome and most notably East Rutherford, N.J.’s MetLife Stadium in the bidding race.

Well well well. It would appear that Philadelphia has essentially become the center of the Universe these days. We’ve got the Pope dropping on by in September, a Power Rangers reunion in April, and smack-dab in the middle we’ll be hosting the CONCACAF Finals on July 25 and 26.

The US of A are the reigning champs after taking down Panama in 2013. And if you are a betting man, you should put your money on the good guys getting back to the title game this year. I get that a ton of you don’t really care about soccer that much, but this isn’t just any footy we’re talking about here. This is the Red, White & Blue putting on for the entire nation. I won’t even discuss the possibility of America not being in the championship game because they’ve been there 6 of the past 7 times. So if you love America and you love watching the United States dominate the world, you should be pumped about this.

I Believe That We
I Believe That We Will Win
