Who Had A Better Weekend: Jared Carrabis Or The Chicago Cubs?

In one corner we have the Chicago Cubs fresh off a 3 game sweep/curb stomping of the Pittsburgh Pirates behind a gem from Yu Darvish, Saturday afternoon beatdown and back-to-back 3 run innings on Sunday. The sweep puts the Cubs 2.5 games up in 1st which feels like a mile compared to where the Cubs took us in June and early July. I know that sounds dramatic but the reality is I’m a Cubs fan and that means I can be drama king/queen.

I’ll give the series a full helmet wash on Red Line Radio this week because sometimes paper can’t do it justice. I raised the stakes in my brain on the 4th of July and put the whole organization on fake notice. Since then the Cubs have won 5 of 6 and are playing with a fire in their belly not seen since mid-April.

Interesting enough that also coincides with Robel Garcia, the unanimous Rookie of the Year winner in the minds of Cubs’ fans everywhere. Crazy yes but that’s what you get for starting your career 6-18 with 5 extra base hits, most of which with 2-outs. Don’t blame me, blame success.

I’m not jealous at all. I’m just going to say that Jared just raised the bar for baseball bloggers about 10,000,000 feet and I’ll be over here crying. Absolutely insane shit.
