Kentucky Wants To Honor Jared Lorenzen By Having Its Starting QB Wear 22 For The Season Opener

I can’t stress how awesome of an idea this is. The passing of Jared Lorenzen has been tragic. Absolutely tragic. That’s the only way to put it. He is probably the most beloved Kentucky football player of all time. You could see him at any point walking around Commonwealth before a game, popping around tailgates and then hanging out down by the field.

So Terry Wilson, the starting QB for Kentucky thought of an idea of wearing 22 to honor Lorenzen. Awesome idea. He wants to wear it for the season opener as a tribute to one of the best Kentucky football players of all time. I mean watch these highlights

It appears the Lorenzen family is all for this as is Mark Stoops. So there should be absolutely no reason why this can’t happen. The NCAA can’t even fuck this up and forbid Wilson from changing his number for one game.

I can’t stress how important and beloved Jared Lorenzen is to Kentucky. KFC and Dave both wrote awesome pieces on Lorenzen which I suggest you check out. I was lucky enough to meet Jared when I was in college and talk to him a few times then before talking to him more over the last few years. Everything you hear about him is true. He was always willing to help you in any way possible. He was the nicest human I ever met. He’s beloved in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky (where he’s from). He’s beloved in Kentucky. I can’t think of a better way for Kentucky football to honor him besides running the table with Wilson wearing 22.
