WOJ NUKE: Kevin Durant And Kawhi Leonard Have Reportedly Discussed Playing Together (Potentially With The Knicks Or Clippers)

Please excuse me as I attempt to write this blog after Woj just blew my fucking head clean off my body with that tweet because I did NOT see this coming after weeks of being told that the Knicks weren’t even the favorite in New York to land an injured Kevin Durant. But according to ESPN, it appears the Knicks have a chance to land Durant AND pay Board Man. And by chance I mean I guess them and the Clippers simply have the space to do it?

Free agent stars Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard have been discussing scenarios that could include a future with them playing together, league sources told ESPN. For now, there are two clear possibilities for the two All-NBA forwards to sign into the same franchise — the Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks. Durant and Leonard are planning to talk with each of those teams once free agency opens Sunday at 6 PM ET, league sources said.
Leonard and Durant are each planning discussions and meetings with several teams, but only Clippers and Knicks are in alignment with salary cap space and common interest to sign both players. Brooklyn could conceivably house both, but a more likely scenario would be Durant and point guard Kyrie Irving signing as free agents with the Nets. Brooklyn is firmly Irving’s focus in free agency, league sources said.

Good, great, wonderful! Stuff like this never blows up in the Knicks faces!

Actually you know what? Fuck that. I need to believe in something after hearing nothing but rumors of the Knicks signing Julius Randle and Terry Rozier the last few days. The Knicks having the cap space to make this pairing mathematically possible is better than it being mathematically impossible is a good thing. There are no sources or rumors. That’s just how math works. So at least we have math going for us. Hooray math! Then if you add in KD being linked to the Knicks for months as well as Kawhi and Uncle Dennis being complete wildcards and I honestly am starting to believe we may have a chance in this whole crazy race after all. So I am going to do what I do every summer and stare at Photoshops of the best players in the NBA wearing the orange and blue and keep telling myself that we have a chance at signing them.

Ohhhhhhh, that’s the good stuff.

Now the rational part of my Knicks fan brain would like to jump on the blog and say something to the idiotic part of my Knicks fan brain:
