Victor Cruz told me he’s on his way to the Giants facility this am. He intends to sign his 1st-round restricted free agent tender of $2.879M

Victor Cruz to me this morning, “I’m going to sign my tender today and will continue talks for a long-term deal before camp starts.” #Giants

Well, my Flag Day just got a little better. Sure, there’s still work to be done to keep Senor Salsa as a Giant long-term, but the fact that he’s gonna sign his RFA tender speaks to his desire to stay. Or he just doesn’t want the tender trimmed by $2 mil like it could’ve been come Monday. Regardless, since he’s inked & can now be fined, the odds of a holdout are slim. So Eli’s officially got his two biggest weapons for at least one more year – and that’s great. But it’ll be interesting to see if Cruz blinking first does anything to close the gap on a long-term deal before camp like he wants and, if so, how that’ll effect keeping Nicks’ wallet happy instead of losing him after this season. We all love Victor, but Hakeem’s the guy Reese knows they can’t afford to lose.
