Northwestern Football Playing At Wrigley Field Every Other Year For The Next Decade

Northwestern football will host games at Wrigley Field in 2022, 2024 and 2026, head coach Pat Fitzgerald said in an interview on a 247Sports podcast that was released this past weekend.
Fitzgerald mentioned the ‘Cats’ plans to play at the home of the Chicago Cubs in upcoming seasons while discussing how the program had recruits tour the historic ballpark during a recent official visit. In the interview, Fitz called Wrigley Northwestern’s “second home.” That wasn’t the first time the team has used the messaging:
Pretty cool news here for Chicago’s Big Ten Team. Everyone knows I hold a ton of hatred for the Cubs, Wrigley Field and Wrigleyville but there’s no denying this is a huge move, for a few reasons
Obviously Northwestern isn’t some household brand, but they’re working on that. Teaming with the Cubs and playing a game every other year at Wrigley puts the eyes of a ton of college football fans across the nation on their product. And their product is actually really fucking good. If I asked 100 random people not in Chicago what their record is in Big Ten play the last two years, most people would guess something like .500 or even worse. Some people even think that Northwestern is located in Oregon or some shit because of the name
But nope. It’s a sneaky 15-3 over the last 2 seasons, with last year being their first appearance in the Big Ten Championship game.
So now they have A+ facilities:
a game at Wrigley Field every other year:
a B1G championship appearance:
and a couple of top 4 recruiting classes in the Big Ten coming in. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Northwestern will soon be a household name. And as their most prestigious alum, I couldn’t be more excited. It’s them, Wisconsin, and everybody else in the West. Next step is beating OSU and going to the Rose Bowl, and with 5 star QB Hunter Johnson at the helm for the 2019 season, that could happen as soon as this year. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya
