Have A Worse Week Than Rory McIlroy's Ex-Caroline Wozniacki, You Can't

PARIS (AP) — About a week after her engagement to two-time major golf champion Rory McIlroy was called off, Caroline Wozniacki exited the French Open in the first round. The 13th-seeded Wozniacki, a former No. 1 and the runner-up at the 2009 U.S. Open, lost 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-2 on Tuesday to 64th-ranked Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium. It’s the first time Denmark’s Wozniacki was beaten in her opener at Roland Garros since 2007, her debut at the clay-court Grand Slam tournament. At the outset of Wozniacki’s post-match news conference, the moderator said: ”Caroline would like to make a statement, and after that she will answer questions about today’s match.”

What a shitty week for Rory McIlroy’s ex-girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki.  I mean it couldn’t get much worse short of her finding out that Rory was sleeping with countless porn stars and Perkins waitresses while they were dating.  First Rory calls off the wedding then he wins his very next tournament after trailing by 7 strokes which basically says being single is going fucking awesome and then she gets bounced in the first round of the French Open for the first time since 2007.  Ouch.  They had just sent out the wedding invites that would forever link her to one of golf’s best up and comers who signed a deal with Nike for enough money to live 500 lifetimes.  All gone in a flash.  That’s a bad week.

As far as Rory goes, I say good for him.  Was Wozniacki the reason he hadn’t been winning major golf tournaments?  Probably not but it couldn’t have helped.  Remember back in 2011 when Rory won the US Open by 8 strokes at the age of 21 and he hugged his Dad as we all cried man tears and everybody pretty much was convinced he was the next Tiger?  And then he melted down in the worst way at the 2012 Masters and nobody knew what the fuck was going on?  And then he won the 2012 PGA Championship by 8 strokes and we were convinced again?  And then he got Nike money and stopped winning again?  What I’m trying to convey is that it’s been an up and down ride with McIlroy and his career.  It can’t hurt to have his mind clear of relationship stuff and just focus on golf.  Not to mention he should be pissed that Jordan Spieth has replaced him as “The Next Guy After Tiger” in everyone’s mind.  I’d love to see a Spieth/McIlroy rivalry emerge and so would you.

PS- I’m ready for Memorial this week.  Field is stacked.
