Blues Turnover Game 1 To The Sharks

Well I can tell you with full certainty that the game we just watched was not as good as Game 7 a few days ago. Much worse start, much worse ending, and way more mistakes. San Jose got going early and the home crowd was able to get going with them. The first 4 goals all seemed very preventable whether it be blatant and obvious turnovers or penalties resulting in a 5 on 3. The Blues had a great start and were all over them the first period, but just shot themselves directly in the foot so many times in a row it was too much to overcome.

It was not all bad though! The Blues were in it until about 2 minutes left when the Sharks hit the empty net. They DAMN NEAR got within 1 goal with 3 and a half minutes left and it could have been another one of their miraculous comebacks. Not tonight though.

The Blues are GOING to get bounces. They are GOING to get breaks. They are also BOUND to have the Powerplay rebound. I would not hate to see a shakeup on PP1 which has been pretty stagnant the past series and a half. Maybe 27 between 91 and 55 on their off hands with 90 and 17 down low? Maybe some Robert Thomas action? Maybe the Big Rig in front? There doesn’t seem to be a ton of downsides to switching it up right now for a unit that could use some juice.

This team cares about each other, they have bounced back before, and they will bounce back again this time. Splitting 1-1 on the road would be huge if they can get it done on Monday and it would change the complexion of the matchup going home to Enterprise Center. The St. Louis Blues will be FINE and will come back with a vengeance Game 2. I am not nervous and I believe in this team.
