American Hero Big Bad Bobby Jenks Wins $5.1MM Medical Malpractice Lawsuit

Former Boston Red Sox and White Sox pitcher Bobby Jenks has won a $5.1 million dollar settlement with Massachusetts General Hospital and Dr. Kirkham Wood.
Jenks had a brief, yet successful MLB career, collecting a 2005 World Series ring with the White Sox. Jenks career ended in 2011 after further injury issues, which it turned out were caused by Dr. Wood’s surgery.
In December 2011, Jenks had spinal decompression surgery at MGH and was told that while the surgery does not guarantee anything, it was his best chance to return to the league.
However, in the aftermath of the three-hour surgery, Jenks experienced painful headaches and issues with leaking spinal fluid.
Jenks filed to sue Dr. Kirkham Wood and MGH in 2015 after learning that there was a second surgery that Dr. Wood was overseeing as his surgery was going on.
I love Bobby Jenks. Just a big, fat 100MPH fastball throwing teddy bear that brought White Sox fans a World Series we still shove down everyone’s throat. I’d be remiss to not remind everyone that he almost murdered me with a crossbow in 2008. You can read that story here and it’s 1000% true.
This is basically a blog just to reblog my old blog telling this story. It’s pretty wild and one I still think about randomly and laugh about to myself.
So anytime I hear his name pop up in the news, I make sure to click on the story to see ‘sup with him. He told me that when he was done playing baseball all he wanted to do was retire to a cattle ranch in like rural Montana with his family and be out of the news and he’s largely done that until today.
And ya know what? Fuck this doctor. Fuck’m in the ear. Sure Jenks almost put an arrow through my eyeball but he gave me a World Series… and I’d gladly sacrifice myself to the baseball gods for another World Series. So any dickhead doctor, especially one in dickhead Boston, fucks with someone who’s actually done that, they’re on my Arya Stark kill list.
