Will Smith Teased Us With A Few Lines From One Of His Raps As The Genie In The New Aladdin

Little bit of good news, bad news here.  Good news is Will Smith is going to be bringing a totally different style to the Genie game in this summer’s reboot.

The bad news? Jimmy Fallon just made it as awkward as possible.  Seriously felt second hand embarrassment with Fallon’s claps here

Anyways I totally get Will Smith here – who in the fuck would wanna follow Robin Williams up as the Genie in the new Aladdin reboot?  Never, EVER follow in the footsteps of a legend.  All that’ll happen is you’ll be held to his standard, you won’t meet that standard, and everyone will hate your fucking guts.

And yes, Robin Williams’ rendition of The Genie in the original Aladdin was that good that nobody should want to follow that up.  So again, I understand Will Smith there.

Except… except Will Smith has something Robin Williams doesn’t.  The ability to rap and bring some black culture into the role.  It’ll be different, and in order for him to knock the role out of the park it has to be WAY different.  Looks like he realizes that too, because if he just tried to duplicate Robin Williams, he’d butcher it and the movie would stink.

Nevertheless this movie (and The Lion King) are going to be awesome in every way
