Canyon Of Heroes Alert: The Knicks Are Listed At 16-1 To Win The 2020 NBA Title Because Vegas Sees Them As The Favorites To Land Kevin Durant

ESPN- The New York Knicks are back in the championship mix heading into a summer that could shake up the NBA. The SuperBook at Westgate Las Vegas on Saturday opened the Knicks at 16-1 to win the 2020 NBA championship. New York is behind only the Milwaukee Bucks (9-2), Boston Celtics (7-1) and Philadelphia 76ers (10-1) in the Eastern Conference. Kevin Durant’s pending free agency is the reason why.

Jeff Sherman, who oversees NBA odds at the SuperBook, believes the Knicks are the favorites to land Durant this summer and created their title odds accordingly. Sherman said the Knicks would be somewhere in the range of 300-1 if they aren’t able to land Durant or another of the high-profile stars who could be on the move this offseason. If New York does land Durant and Kyrie Irving, Sherman said he would still have the Bucks with better odds than the Knicks.

FOLLOW THE MOTHERFUCKING MONEY!!!!!!!! I have been keeping my excitement level at bay as all these offshore books throw out Kevin Durant to the Knicks odds because I have been burnt countless times by stupid rumors, urban legends, and general wives tales that told me a free agent superstar was going to sign with a New York team. But once Las Vegas is takes the money all the suckers pump into it every year and puts it on the Knicks landing Kevin Durant donning the orange and blue next year, I listen.

Seeing the Knicks chances of winning a title actually be in the teens and amongst franchises that aren’t raging tire fires caused my brain to hemorrhage a little bit because I have been so used to those 300-1 types of teams. At the very least, it beats the hell out of believing Chris Paul will sign with the Knicks because he made a toast at Carmelo Anthony’s wedding or LeBron clearly looking to play in The Mecca because he scheduled his “Rip every Cavs fans hearts out on live television” show in Greenwich that caused hundreds of Knicks fans to buy season tickets to watch Amare Stoudemire have his knees ground to dust by Mike D’Antoni. I can completely see this all backfiring in my face, but as long as I keep staring at those odds and these Photoshops, I can’t help but smile about being a Knicks fan for the first time in a very long time.
