PASTA LA VISTA BABY!!! Pastrnak Clutch In Crazy Game 5 Win

Columbus Blue Jackets v Boston Bruins - Game FiveDavid Pastrnak came up clutch with a two goal performance in a crazy game 5. The Bruins lead the series 3-2 and are now just one win away from the Eastern Conference Finals. But first, the madness from tonight…

Patriots center David Andrews was tonight’s banner captain (rocking a McAvoy jersey), he destroyed a beer and the Garden came alive.

Both teams had power play opportunities but nothing going in the first period. CBJ was called for slashing (Atkinson) and too many men. BOS’s only penalty of the period was a McAvoy slash on Boone Jenner. Pretty dull first period.

1:39 into the 2nd, David Backes started an odd man rush and David Krejci finished it off to open the scoring in the. 1-0 Bruins.

Some great saves from Bobrovsky and Rask keep it a one goal game after two. The Bruins didn’t generate much offense as the second period wound down.

The Bruins dominated play early in the 3rd and finally Brad Marchand came through with his first goal of the series.

Great feed in front from Clifton, Sergei Bobrovsky robbed Marchand on the first attempt but Marchand buried the second. 2-0 Bruins.

Matt Grzelcyk redirected a Seth Jones shot into the net. The call on the ice was no goal but it was overturned. Somehow, someway there was definitive proof that was in. I didn’t think it was inconclusive. Looked in and after a lengthy review CBJ was awarded the goal.

1:16 later David Pastrnak responded. An absolute rip past Sergei Bobrovsky’s blocker. But this all started with a great save from Tuukka Rask at the other end on Nick Foligno. B’s had an odd man rush up the ice and Pasta buried.

Not even a minute later Ryan Dzingel answered. Chara got turned inside out. 3-2 Bruins.

Panarin set up Kukan just minutes after Dzingel made it a one goal game. Bomb from the middle of the dots. Columbus scored three goals in a span of 1:34 to make it a tied game 3-3. 3 goals on 4 shots.

But with 1:28 left in the 3rd, David Pastrnak re-directed a feed from Brad Marchand. 4-3 Bruins. This would be the eventual game winner in Game 5. CLUTCH. Brandon Carlo made the play in the defensive zone to make the odd man rush possible.

Tuukka Rask made an outstanding save on Cam Atkinson with 11 seconds left to preserve the win.

FINAL: Boston 4, Columbus 3

– Playoff fucking hockey, man. Just when you think a game is all tied up. Not over until the horn sounds. Credit to CBJ for not giving up, but my goodness David Pastrnak came to play. This game for sure took years off my life.

– Charlie McAvoy was sensational tonight, right from puck drop. His foot save on Panarin at the end of the game is what playoff hockey is all about. Sacrificing the body. Per Fluto he’s fine. Which is great news. But all could have been avoided if Marchand just got the puck out cleanly. He led all skaters again with 24:31 of TOI.

– The top line finally showed up. David Pastrnak was much better possessing the puck. Patrice Bergeron was Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand finally got his first goal of the series (assisted on both of Pasta’s goals). Pastrnak came up clutch with two goals and the game winner late in the 3rd. He has 3 goals and 1 assist for 4 points in his last 2 games. Don’t let Pasta get hot.

– I thought David Backes has looked really good since coming into the lineup. Fresh legs. He’s made some really smart plays, hasn’t put the team in danger. Seems like he’s keeping up with the pace, which he struggled with during the season. Key assist from him tonight on Krejci’s goal.

– Loved the pushback after the first CBJ goal was allowed, didn’t love the pushback after Pastrnak re-made it a two-goal game. CBJ pushed hard scoring three times in a span of 3:27. Too many breakdowns.

– Zdeno Chara looked his age on that Ryan Dzingel goal. CBJ attacked him and turned him inside out. Next thing you know the puck is in the back of the net.

– B’s went 0 for 2 on the PP but thought they had better looks. Still need that net front presence.

– Brandon Carlo did a great job shutting down Artemi Panarin. Smothered him. He made the play in the d-zone to spring Marchand who fed Pastrnak for the game winner.

– Tuukka Rask outstanding… again.. I cannot say enough good words about this man. Monstrous save on Cam Atkinson with 11 seconds to go. Even when Columbus pushed with three goals in the third he didn’t lose his composure. MVP of the series so far for the Bruins. 33 save night.

D5xLY56WkAAweVHThe Bruins will now go into Columbus on Monday with a chance to put them away. Let’s fucking go.

It was a great night to win a hockey game.
