Not To Complain But The NFL Draft Is One Day Where It’s No Fun To Be A Patriots Fan

patsss

Unless you’ve been living in a cave you know tonight is the NFL Draft. For most fanbases this is the biggest day of the year. It’s all hopes and dreams. It’s all rainbows and gumdrops. Everybody is 0-0. The sky is the limit. Fans can cheer and yell without having to back it up on the field. Everybody can convince themselves they won the day. That success starts now. Guy like Steve Cheah build their entire yearly social calendar around it.

I got to be honest. I almost envy these people. I mean I can’t remember the last time I cared about the Draft. I mean no matter what happens we know the Pats are going to be in the AFC championship game. We know that no matter what happens Belichick and company will make the right decision. And if they don’t they’ll pivot and replace their mistakes with castoffs from other teams who will become pro bowlers with us. There is no pressure. There is no real excitement. It’s just another day in April for us. The only 2 days that matter as a Pats fan are the AFC title game and the Superbowl.

Listen I’m not expecting other fans to feel bad for us, but this is a major sports event that due to my fandom I just don’t get to enjoy. Instead the middle of April signifies a different major football event for me. Because right around this time is usually DVD day. Yup while the rest of the country waits with baited breathe to see who they can pin their broken dreams too I rush to the check the mail like a kid on Christmas morning awaiting the latest Patriots Superbowl DVD to arrive. And as things would have it that day was today. So I guess after the Bruins game tonight while everybody watches the Draft I’ll watch 3 Games to Glory. Poor, poor me ideed.
