Can Someone Explain How Chicago Is Growing Exponentially And Shrinking At The Same Time?
CHICAGO — New U.S. Census Bureau data show that the Chicago area’s population has fallen for a fourth straight year.
Data released Thursday show that the Chicago metropolitan area lost an estimated 22,068 residents from 2017 to 2018, but remains home to nearly 9.5 million people.
The Chicago Tribune reports the decline continues a statewide trend that could threaten future federal funding, economic prosperity and political representation for those left behind.
I don’t know if this is the space for this type of thing, but I really respect our readership and I know some of you out there are a lot smarter than me. I want an answer to this question because there are two things happening at the same time that seem to contradict each other. People are fleeing Illinois at an alarming rate. High taxes, cold weather, blah blah blah. People don’t want to live here anymore. Fourth straight year of a declining population in a state considered to be wealthy and has a crown jewel city like Chicago is alarming. If there’s fewer and fewer people wanting to live in Illinois and Chicago then how do you explain this absolute fucking BOOM in construction at the same time?
Look at what is being built and/or proposed.
I’ve seen the Big Short and this looks just like it. Building building building loans fees public works, but…no buyer for any of these things. So here is what I actually want to do. I want someone to teach me how to short the Chicago housing market because I’ve clearly cracked some sort of code here but I don’t know how to execute a plan to get rich and I really want to get rich so I can buy one of these towers when the economy bottoms out and be a really super rich real estate mogul. Hmu if you know real estate stuff.
