It's Actually Laughable That The Islanders Have To Play The Second Round At The Barclays Center In Brooklyn

Nashville Predators v New York Islanders

The Islanders have swept the Pittsburgh Penguins and are moving on to the second round of the NHL playoffs but unfortunately for them, it will be spent at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn as opposed to the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island where they played their first series.

Just when it looks like the franchise is actually turning things around they are forced by the NHL to go back to that hell hole in Brooklyn. There is no denying the Coliseum is a tough place to play in the playoffs. I had my fun in the regular season giving Frankie shit about some of the empty seats and the “lets go bruins chants”. But come playoff time, you’d be crazy to say that the Coli isn’t a tough barn to play in.

The Barclays Center may be one of the worst arenas in the country to watch a professional hockey game at. There are full sections where you just can’t see the net or part of the zone. It’s insanity to me that an NHL team is allowed to play there, let alone host a playoff series there.

It’s not like the Isles have nowhere else to go, either. They could play at the Coli. Cancel whatever events they have there and bite the bullet on the Barclays deal. The owners owe it to their fans who they’ve put through hell the past 20 or so years.

I’m sure there is a bunch of logistics and legalities that I have zero clue about, but regardless, I think I speak for everyone when I say the Islanders should be playing Round 2 at the Coli. The Barclays Center is a joke and isn’t meant to watch hockey. So the NHL needs to figure it the fuck out.
