What Was The Craziest Storyline Of The 2018-19 NBA Season?
This time last year I did a similar blog because frankly it was the most outrageous season I had ever seen. There were legit 45 ridiculous storylines that you almost couldn’t believe were actually true. We had everything from Colangelo burners to the Rockets/Clippers tunnel fight to KD’s burners to JR Smith throwing soup, the list goes on and on. When this season started I thought there was no way the drama could live up to that epic performance, but you know what? The 2018-19 season had its moments as well. I went ahead and tried to remember everything that went down and put it all in a list but it wouldn’t shock me if I missed one or two because it was yet again another wild 6 months of NBA drama. Here’s where I netted out
– Magic quitting out of nowhere
– The Grizzlies and Suns trading the wrong Brooks
– Harrison Barnes got traded in the middle of a game
– Jimmy Butler’s famous practice and exit from MIN
– The Anthony Davis trade deadline saga
– Kevin Durant & Draymond Green fight
– Rondo spitting in Chris Paul’s face aka SpitGate
– Markelle Fultz still never played basketball
– Every time Kyrie opened his mouth
– Dwight Howard missing the season due to his extra curricular activity
– LeBron missing the playoffs
– Goats shitting in the Suns front office
– John Wall slipping and hurting himself at home
– Kings firing their coach after the best season in 15 years
– Knicks trading Porzingis
– BBB collapse
– Kawhi learning to laugh
– Carmelo got exiled
– Load management
That brings me to 18 storylines that fit the bill, and I have to admit this isn’t really close to the 2018 season but there are some great ones in there. If I had to narrow this down into a top 5 I’d probably go with
1. Magic resigning
2. Grizzlies/Suns trading the wrong Brooks
3. Dwight
4. Harrison Barnes trade
T – 5. Jimmy Butler fiasco / Suns goats shitting everywhere
It’s hard to go wrong no matter how you rank all these events and I can only imagine what we have in store for this summer and then next season. The NBA can’t stop being dramatic as hell and that’s what makes it such a fun league to watch year in and year out, it’s basically a real life Mad Libs. I still think 2017-18 will forever be the GOAT, but here’s to hoping 2019-20 gives it a run for its money.
So I’ll ask you, what was your favorite crazy storyline from this past season? Anything I didn’t list here that stood out to you?
