Life Imitates Art: Poor Jorah Mormont Can't Seem To Escape The Friend Zone Even In Real Life

“My buddy!”

On no. Oh no. No no no no. That may have been the most devastating “my buddy” ever uttered in the entirety of the world’s existence.

We’ve got Iain Glen over here singing the highest of praises to Emilia Clarke. This sounds like something that he’s practiced saying in front of his mirror for months or even years. Just waiting for the right moment to tell Emilia Clarke how he truly feels about her. He wussed out a little and decided to say it into a camera instead, but fully knowing that she would see that interview with the hopes that she would feel the same about him. That was a “shoot your shot” answer if I’ve ever heard one in my entire life. And then when he finally gets a chance to hear what she has to say about him in return….

“He’s been my pal this whole time. He’s been my one…MAH BUDDY! Hah ha!”

Poor poor Jorah Mormont. I don’t think there has ever been a more severe case of the Friend Zone than this right here. I mean he’s had to watch her get taken to plow town by Khal Drago. Then it was another trip to Plow Town with Daario Nahaaris. Now he may even need to watch her hook up with her nephew Jon Snow because he gets himself a taste of Khaleesi. This man has done everything for her. He’s been there for her at every turn of the way. He even got greyscale for her. And now he’s standing in line behind her own damn nephew. Again, it’s just devastating. And for it to continue off-screen? Yikes.

I mean we see this happen every so often where actors who have worked together and shared romantic, intimate moments together on-screen end up dating off-screen. Like Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. Ben Afleck and Jennifer Garner. Or even right there on the same show with Kit Harington and Rose Leslie. They vibe on-screen so hard that the chemistry follows them off the show or movie. But when your on-screen relationship is to be stuck deeper in the Friend Zone than anybody has ever been trapped before? Yeah, good luck ever getting out of there in any capacity. He was lucky enough to find a cure for greyscale, but there’s no cure for this.
