Rangers Make Franchise-Altering Leap In NHL Draft Lottery

Since the modern draft era, the NY Rangers have never had a pick in the top 3. Looks like 50th time’s a charm because now, with Kravtsov, Panarin, Adam Fox & Shestyorkin already on the way, the NY Rangers vault from #6 to #2 to welcome whoever’s left from the unquestioned top-2 duo of American Jack Hughes (expected #1) & Finnish stud Kaapo Kakko. Obviously it’s possible to snag a superstar virtually anywhere in the draft – but what the Blueshirts need to expedite their rebuild is as much of a “sure thing” they could get. Hughes & Kakko are both expected to be exactly that.

In a sense it’s a good thing to get #2 here instead of top billing. It’s a pressure-free pick. Just take whichever of the pair is left. Don’t get cute. Can’t fuck it up. Right?
