I Just Hope Everybody Made It To Class On Time Today

NCAA Basketball Final Four Championship Game

Winning a national championship is something that the members of the Virginia men’s basketball team will never forget. It’s an achievement which should be celebrated and honored for quite some time. However, we must not forget that these are all NCAA STUDENT-athletes. And by and large, the majority of NCAA student-athletes go pro in something other than sports. So do you think you can just show up to a job interview one day after graduation, show off your fancy little National Championship ring and you’ll just get hired right there on the spot? Of course not. Which means these kids need to get their ass back in the classroom, grind as hard in there as they did on the court last night, get good grades and set themselves up for a better future.

There’s a time and a place to celebrate winning a national championship. But today is a Tuesday. It’s a school day just like any other. Let’s not forget that there’s an even bigger game to win and that game is in the classroom. That game is called life. I don’t want to hear about anybody studying a scouting report for a game harder than they’re studying their notes for a big test. So you want to celebrate winning a national championship? Go right ahead. But save it for the weekend when there’s not any school work to be done.

Kind of makes you wonder about why the NCAA would schedule a national championship game at 9:20pm on a school night in the first place. It’s almost as if they wanted to milk every dollar they possibly could out of the broadcast of the game. Fortunately that revenue gets shared amongst the players who are the stars of the show.
