Paul Pierce Said He Was Better Than Dwyane Wade And The Internet Is Not Happy About It

The internet does not like Paul Pierce. Mostly because he forced LeBron to go to Miami, forever ruining the League. That and Draymond Green saying “they don’t love you like (Kobe)” during his retirement tour. I guess? I don’t really know. Paul Pierce is one of my favorite players of all time – because I am a Celtics fan and he was, despite the litany of nasty rumors, really good at sports.

So tonight, before the Celtics-Pacers game, Michelle Beadle asked Paul Pierce who was better between the two. And you guys aren’t going to believe this, but one Hall of Fame basketball player said he was better than another Hall of Fame basketball player. Can you believe the stones on this guy?!? Outrageous.

Now, I’m not that massive of a homer. I think Dwyane Wade’s peak has a very strong argument for the second best shooting guard of all time behind only MJ. He was very clearly more talented than Paul Pierce. But my problem with this clip is that nothing Paul Pierce said was wrong. Put Shaq on those early-2000s Celtics teams and they win titles. Put LeBron on those late-2000s Celtics teams and they also win titles. That doesn’t take away from what Wade accomplished, especially with how crazy he went during that ’06 run, but Pierce isn’t wrong. Mostly because Shaq and LeBron are two of the top 10 players ever of all time. You put another top-50 player around those guys, especially in the East, and I agree they would compete for a multitude of championships. Does that make him better than Wade? No, surely doesn’t. But he’s not wrong. Had he played with supremely superior players he absolutely would have more rings. No ifs, ands, or buts about it, P-Double.
