You Could Power A Small Country With The Energy Coming From Petr Mrazek After The Hurricanes Clinched A Spot In The Playoffs

It’s pretty difficult to blame Petr Mrazek for being god awful during the 2 months he spent in Philly last year. Since, ya know, up until Carter Hart came around, no goalie has been able to play well for the Flyers in at least 20-30 years. Do I still resent the fact that Mrazek and the Canes will be in the playoffs this year while the Flyers’ season ends tomorrow night? Of course.

But with that being said–this is a high quality reaction. Just pure adrenaline taking over when you realize “holy shit, we don’t suck anymore!”. I mean just think about what the Hurricanes have been through. They had 9 straight years of not making the playoffs. Then they got a new owner, Tom Dundon, who…well…I mean as we’ve seen in recent history he’s not exactly the kind of guy who makes the smartest decisions in the world. Then over the summer, they traded away Jeff Skinner and Noah Hanifin and Elias Lindholm. After all those trades, I was pretty much set on the fact that Carolina was going to continue tanking and were looking to get Jack Hughes or Kaapo Kakko to go along with Andrei Svechnikov. But now they’ve booked their ticket to the playoffs and anything can happen once you’re in there.

I still firmly believe that the Hockey Gods will punish the Hurricanes for the Storm Surge. So we could easily see them go down in 5 games in the 1st round with their only win coming on the road. But again, you never know could happen once you’re in the playoffs. So like Petr Mrazek said, “WE ARE IN! WE ARE IN! YES! YES! WOOOOOO!”.

P.S. – Rod Brind’Amour, Craig Berube and Peter Laviolette are all going to the playoffs this year. Happy for the boys but makes me sick to my stomach as a Flyers fan.
