Dennis Gilbert Set To Make His Debut For The Blackhawks Tonight And Potentially Fuck Some People Up

The Blackhawks called up Dennis Gilbert in a move I am not sure many saw coming. He’s had himself a nice first pro season in Rockford after being one of the best defensive defensemen in College Hockey for Notre Dame. In fact…he was the HockeyEast Defensive Defenseman of the year his sophomore season. I shook hands with him briefly at prospect camp and I thought about going to the doctor because it felt like he crushed bones by accident. Since then he’s been crushing bones on purpose. I know it’s the era of smaller, faster, skilled, puck moving dmen, but call me old fashioned… I still LOVE a defenseman who plays MEAN. And that is Dennis Gilbert

The Blackhawks don’t have anyone else like Gilbert in the system. If the Blackhawks feel like he is ready in the next 12 months or so it would not surprise me if they traded Connor Murphy to clear some cap space and a right-shot Dman as Mitchell, Boqvist, and Jokiharju look to make the team. Gilbert can be that big cement mixer stay at home mean ass sonofabitch on the left-side. He can provide that honesty defensively that they’re currently getting from Connor Murphy.
