Charles Barkley Tried To Illegally Recruit Dirk To Auburn

I could listen to Charles Barkley talk for hours. Especially when he gets going on one thing. When that one thing is illegal recruiting? Sign me up as fast as possible.

Here’s the thing he’s not wrong. Cam Newton for $200,000 is a good deal. Look at how that turned out for Auburn. A national championship, a Heisman trophy, likely way more revenue than $200,000 strictly because of Cam. That’s not a lie.

Here’s the thing though, Chuck. Dirk was going to go to Kentucky if he went to college.

He would have joined a team with Jamaal Maglorie and Tayshaun Prince in 1998-99. A team that lost in the Elite Eight. That team with Dirk would have been a Final Four team if not the national champ. You can’t convince me otherwise.

Here’s what I do want and need to know. Who else did Chuck try to recruit to Auburn? How much is he willing to toss out there for guys? I mean there has to be more than just Dirk.

Could you have imagined Dirk in the Germany Army though? Chuck has a point. He’s 7 damn feet tall. Where’s he hiding? How’s he ducking? You can’t be 7 feet tall in the Army. I mean I checked in with our resident Army guys Capt. Cons, who said:
