I Now Get Why Phillies Fans Fucking Hated Bryce For The Last 7 Years

I get it now. I get it. When Bryce left the Nats I was big on the side that he should go get paid, get the most money, that’s how sports work, etc. And I still believe that, obviously. Like, why wouldn’t a guy take more money to play somewhere else? It’s common sense. What I didn’t expect to happen was to immediately understand why he was just so hated when he was in DC.

When he was a Nat, all I got were tweets from Phillies fans saying he’s a bum, he’s overrated, most overrated player of all time, etc etc etc. I would blog all his 500 foot home runs and be like suck it bitchesssss, and Phillies fans would get big mad in my mentions. I also talked about how fun he was to watch, how he’s great for baseball, the face of the game, all that jazz.

And let me tell ya, now I get what Phillies fans hated.

When he’s on your team, he’s very easy to like because he’s eccentric and over the top and puts on a show for the fans and hits ball 500 feet, if he’s not on your team he’s a douche and a self-centered egomaniac and very easy to hate. I mean he panders, he bat flips, he says and does everything to get the home town crowd to embrace him. And man do I get it now. And that’s why he’s going to get booed for the next decade. Because now he’s public enemy #1. It took one game for him to turn on DC and make Nats fans realize why Phillies fans hated him so much, and vice versa.

And I guess we can get deep and say that’s the beauty of sports, but I don’t want to go down that road right now. Let’s let the hate flow through us and have a good decade long battle.
