“Playoffs Baby! Playoffs! Fuckin Right!” - Robin Lehner

Holy mother of God the New York Islanders are going to playoffs. I can’t imagine too many people thought this would be a reality 9 months ago when that coward of a franchise player left the team in free agency, causing soft-faced boys to cry (allegedly) in their dark bedrooms. We have come so very far in such a short amount of time. What the Isles have done this season has been far and away the best story in the NHL. This team is made up of such a special group of guys who are all rallying together to prove as many people wrong as possible.

Lou Lamoriello and Barry Trotz’s transformation of this organization is nothing short of remarkable. Going from the worst defensive team in the NHL to the BEST the next year is so impressive it actually doesn’t seem real.

Now let me be very clear, the season doesn’t end with just clinching a playoff spot. It’s time to get to work now. This storybook season has to include playoff success, it just has to. The Islanders have won 1 playoff series in my LIFETIME! So this has to be the year. The isles have played a playoff-style game all season long. Defense and goaltending have been the backbone of this team and I truly feel they will be able to compete night in and night out during these playoffs.
