This Guy Has The World's Only Remaining Perfect Bracket

Gregg Nigl almost didn’t fill out his March Madness bracket on NCAA.com’s “Bracket Challenge.”

Now, he’s made history.

Nigl, 40 of the Northeast Side, has a perfect bracket through 48 games of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, the most games in a row that anyone has ever correctly predicted in NCAA.com’s tournament challenge.

Meanwhile, my bracket busted in game one when Minnesota beat Louisville. Look, there’s nothing worse than when someone talks to you about their bracket. Literally no one cares…..except when you’re perfect. 48 for 48. UC Irvine over Kansas State. Oregon in the Sweet 16. Duke over UCF. This guy has had all the surprises of the tournament. The odds of this happening are about 1 in 9.2 quintillion. To put that into comparison, the odds of winning tonight’s $750 million Powerball Jackpot are only 1 in 292 million.

This is the furthest into the tournament that anyone has ever had a perfect bracket. But let’s make one thing very clear: this guy is lucky. There are people that get paid a lot of money to study college basketball 24/7, and they threw out their brackets on Thursday afternoon. This guy is not some sort of basketball wizard. Someone just needs to remind him of that.

While he watches mostly Big Ten games during the season, Nigl said he did his homework after the tournament field was unveiled, including watching some of the bracketology shows on TV.

Jesus, I can’t believe I didn’t think of watching the bracketology shows! We must be dealing with the reincarnation of Dr. Naismith here. This guy watched Big Ten games during the season. He knows his shit! Those of you that live in states where gambling has been legalized (remember, online betting  is ILLEGAL) could really benefit from seeing this man’s bracket. So let’s see what he has going on the rest of the way…..

I mean, all of this is completely possible. The amount of chalk left in the Sweet 16 means that his bracket really doesn’t have any crazy twists or turns. He has Oregon going down to Virginia tomorrow night, and he has all #1 vs. #2 matchups in the Elite 8. He has every single one of the favorites winning in the Sweet 16.  The only problem I really see is that he has Kentucky in the championship, and that will be tough to do with the status of current Wildcat cheerleader PJ Washington remaining unclear.

I’m rooting for the guy though. Completing a perfect bracket is very cool. Getting the right Sweet 16 is old news as soon as you miss one game….unless you happened to work for Warren Buffet at Berkshire Hathaway….
